Solving Jumping Problems

Before attempting to solve a jumping problem by retraining, ALWAYS be sure that your dog has no health issues (orthopedic and vision problems are the most common health issues that can affect jumping).

There are 4 main types of jumping problems:
  • Refusing jumps*
  • Knocking bars*
  • Taking off too soon
  • Stutter-stepping
*These are often associated with a physical problem

Chris Ott's Blog, which contains some of my thoughts on dogs that take off too early for jumps (so-called Early Take-Off Syndrome).

This dog took off too early and knocked a lot of bars. Chris' consult gave his owner the tools to solve his problem.
Mac used to have a problem with taking off too early for jumps. Look at his jumping now!

Congratulations to Maisie!
